North Arlington Celebrates Vikings 45th Anniversary

Lamar High School ’ s spring Open House was anything but typical as current faculty , staff and students celebrated 45 years of Viking pride with former students and teachers .
“ It was really great to see some old faces from Lamar ,” AVID teacher Geoff Harris said . “ I got to see my first principal Weldon English , who hired me 24 years ago . I think the event was nice and well received .”
Evening events began with refreshments and entertainment in the cafeteria . The Jazz Ensemble , Harmony and Madrigal choirs , and Step Team performed for attendees .
“ I really enjoyed hearing the jazz band perform ,” said Ted Shobert , a 1977 Lamar graduate . “ Lamar has certainly changed and grown over the years . It ’ s still a good school . It ’ s nice to see former classmates and teachers .”
The evening concluded with time to visit with teachers and a pep rally .
“ It ’ s been a while since I attended a pep rally ,” 1975 Lamar graduate Randy Lowke said . “ My girls graduated from Lamar , and we attended many activities while they were here . Lamar is special . I always enjoyed attending and being a part of Lamar .”

Former Lamar grads now teaching at the school are Scott Crawford , Alyce Thompson Monroe , Diann Coleman- Whaley , Dean Wou and Kathy McGee-Holley .
