Student Accomplishments

March Student of the Month
Vyveca Wiley, Sam Houston High School
Vyveca is a very involved student and a leader at Sam
Houston High School. She is a wonderful student who gives
her time to many organizations at Sam Houston.
Vyveca is the editor-in-chief of the Texans Talk newspaper,
she is the captain of the Sam Houston speech team, and she
previously was the captain of the Sam Houston debate team.
Vyveca was the leader of the Sam Houston Black History
Committee this year, as well. Vyveca won third place in a
Rotary speech competition in 2015. †

2016 Spelling Bee Winners
The AISD Area Spelling Bee was held on Feb. 3 with 30
students competing in the Area 7 contest and 32 in Area 8.
Jason Nguyen from Key Elementary was the Area 7 spelling
bee winner and Mikayla Erlandsen from Corey Academy
was the runner up.
In Area 8, Hope Tran from Boles Junior High was the
winner, while Haley Wehr from Pope Elementary finished
as the runner up. †
