Volunteers from Kohl ’ s Cares joined the Ashworth Student Council in sprucing up the grounds at Ashworth Elementary . They dug up weeds , planted flowers and spread mulch in beds and around trees . Kohl ’ s Cares also made a generous contribution to Ashworth .

For the 10th year in a row , students from the SVA at Seguin High School hosted Walk It Out . The event benefited two organizations : Honor Flight DFW and Train a Dog Save a Warrior . Army veteran Victor Hernandez and his dog Spirit came out to walk and share information about Train a Dog Save a Warrior .
Thornton Elementary celebrated its 60th anniversary . Many former staff members , students and principals attended , as well as Dorothy Rencurrel , the niece of school namesake Myrtle Thornton . This upbeat , fun celebration honored the great students , staff and traditions at Thornton Elementary .
Students , parents and teachers packed the AISD Professional Development Center for the 2016 TI Grant Showcase . The event gave AISD teachers and students the opportunity to demonstrate how they are using Transformation Through Innovation grants - funded by the 2014 Bond program - to develop innovative educational methods through technology .
