September December 2016 Student of the Month Mary Catherine Arnott , Lamar High School
Mary Catherine is an excellent student and leader for Lamar .
Mary Catherine demonstrates positive leadership and is a wonderful student at Lamar High School .
Mary Catherine holds officer positions in many clubs at Lamar , including president of Student Council , secretary of National Honor Society and co-president of Science National Honor Society . She has been a captain of the mock trial , leading the team to the area semifinals , and she has competed in the national competition for Future Business Leaders of America . Mary Catherine also is taking seven Advanced Placement classes this year , her senior year .
In her free time , Mary Catherine is actively involved in the community . She volunteers for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington , which named her Volunteer of the Year in 2015 . She also founded the Youth Arlington Club .

Madelynn demonstrates a kind and generous heart , going the extra mile to build positive and powerful friendships at Martin High School .
Madelynn is involved in the award-winning Chamber Choir , the Student Council , Academic Decathlon , National Honor Society , Spanish National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society . She ’ s a Martin cheerleader , she has competed at the state level for HOSA , and she has taken multiple pre-AP and AP classes .
Madelynn always has a smile on her face and makes others , students and adults alike , feel welcome and appreciated . She works at Camp Thurman because it promotes team building and having fun . Madelynn plans to attend Texas A & M University and pursue biomedical engineering . She hopes to have a hand in creating technology that will pave the way toward medical advancements .
Madelynn is an excellent student and leader at Martin , and she exemplifies all our district hopes our students will accomplish in high school .
