Lamar High School
Welcome to the 2015-2016 School Year
Lamar High School has a wealth of opportunities for students in fine arts, athletics,
upper-level academics such as Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate,
career and technology courses, and more than 30 student organizations.
Lamar is proud to have earned a Met Standard rating from the Texas Education
Agency, along with academic distinctions in English/language arts, mathematics
and science. There is a rapidly growing health care rotations class, where
students attend classes and accompany professionals on rotations at Texas
Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. In addition, Lamar is an AVID National
Demonstration School as well as an International Baccalaureate campus.
A few September events at Lamar High School:
• Viking Fest: September 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. Faculty teams and student
organizations will be on display, selling merchandise and welcoming families.
• Homecoming: September 11. Lamar will be playing Justin Northwest. This
is also Lamar’s 45th anniversary, and they will be honoring alumni at the
2:15 p.m. pep rally and at the game that evening.
