Mission Arlington Holds
After-School Programs
Mission Arlington holds after-school programs for elementary-aged students in
various locations throughout Arlington. Mostly held at apartment complexes,
volunteers come Monday-Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., helping with their
homework, providing snacks, playing games and reading Bible stories.
The program depends on many volunteers to help, and the community certainly
does not disappoint. Along with Mission Arlington program members, some
residents of the complex enjoy assisting with the activities. A few high school
and junior high students also come on occasion, and it is rewarding for them as
they implement what they have learned by helping younger students. The adult
volunteers really enjoy watching the union between the older and younger children.
It is a community-building program that affords for a safe, fun and worry-free
place for the children to go after school. The residents are reassured that there will
be someone there everyday to provide food and clothing or simply have someone
there to talk to and pray with them. †
