The Public Information Officer (PIO), a Lieutenant, is tasked with providing the citizens and media with information regarding life safety issues, community activities, and emergency incidents. Public information and communication are accomplished through a variety of methods including social media accounts, community events, and local print / digital media. FY 2018 Events and Accomplishments: • National Night Out • First Responder Appreciation Games at AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park, and College Park Center The Vial of Life puts important instructions into the hands of Emergency Responders and Physicians when it is needed most — during the first minutes of critical illness or accident in your home. INSTRUCTIONS • Place Vial of Life magnet on the outside of your refrigerator. Emergency Medical Personnel in the community have been notified to look for your special Vial of Life magnet. • Light It Up Blue for Autism Awareness • April Pools Day event at Viridian • MCA & Texas Rangers Fitness All-Star Programs • Ask your pharmacist to add any new • Project Connect: Islamic Community Outreach with APD prescriptions to your medical record form. • Complete the medical record form with the assistance of your doctor or family member. • Vial of Life Presentations • Sound the Alarm: mass smoke alarm installation in pre-identified communities with American Red Cross, CERT, and APD • Roll up completed form, include your Living Available at all Fire Stations and Fire Administration. In 2017, AFD participated in an ISO assessment. The resulting score was 95.67 (ISO 1) as compared to the 2007 score of 84.40 (ISO 2). The new ISO 1 rating became effective March 1, 2018. ISO ratings are used by most insurance companies to predict / analyze risk when generating insurance premiums. Fire departments are evaluated and classified every 10 years by the Insurance Service Office (ISO), an insurance industry risk management firm, using a Public Protection Classification (PPC) program. Scores range from 1-10, with 1 as the top score. Arlington residents / business owners should share the new rating information with their insurance providers at the time of renewal. 24
