Protect Our
Resources
The natural environment including trees, waterways, natural areas, and open
spaces serves to not only soften the built environment, but also provide health
benefits to residents. The need to be good stewards of the environment has
long been a priority for the City of Arlington. Many local programs and initiatives
exist that are designed to protect and enhance the environmental resources that
can be found in Arlington neighborhoods, yet there is more that can be done to
protect and conserve the natural, scenic, and ecological resources in Arlington.
Land
In order to build and maintain a healthy ecosystem, policies and programs
must balance economic and conservation needs. This section highlights ways
in which our community can develop land preservation practices that conserve
ecosystems, enhance local economies, and prudently manage natural resources
so that Arlington can be a clean, green and healthy city.
