A good title for this group would be the “Magnificent Seven”. Those participating included ride leader Lonnie and his wife Karen, Deb B., Barb A., along with long lost Bill, Sheila and Robert completing the roster. Riding the trail westward toward Hells Canyon wilderness area we were rewarded with great views of the mountains and desert terrain. This is an area of old growth saguaros as well as numerous other varieties of cacti. Water was available at several places along the wash and the horses and Barb’s mule took advantage of that. After about two hours, we turned toward our starting point and traversed trails that led us along the Maricopa/Yavapai county line for a ways. The desert has a lot of greenery this time of year and the wild burros we encountered looked well fed and content. Arriving back at the trailhead after about a ten mile, four hour trip we enjoyed some goodies supplied by club members and had a nice visit with everyone before heading home. All in all a great way to spend Valentines Day. 44 April 2015 AZintheSaddle.com
