Copper State Trail Riders January Ride Report O n Friday morning I arrived in Oracle and ran into five new people on their way to our ride. Under normal circumstances I love to meet and welcome new riders to our club. However this turned out to be anything but normal. We headed up to High Jinks Ranch were I thought there was a campsite for us. On Google Earth the spot the ranch told us about was large and flat. What I didn’t see was that it was on a mesa! The road to the ranch was a one lane with curves not made for large horse trailers! There was one turn around spot just outside the ranch. We had to get 5 rigs turned around in a small spot and headed down. Everyone got safely off the hill and it was the first and last time I don’t drive to the campsite first. Laurel from the ranch didn’t realize the room required for our rigs. She called the YMCA Triangle Y Ranch. They welcomed us with open arms and quickly opened the gates for us. We were given the whole barn area to use with large turnouts for each horse. They even put a large sign out at the entrance so no one else would go up that road. This is where I have to give a shout out to the people at the YMCA Triangle Y Ranch for their gracious hospitality. After getting settled we went for a walk looking at the huge facility and found the lady, Kim Wilson, who was responsible for coming to our rescue and opening the camp to us. The facility and their hospitality so impressed us that we made reservations to come back. We will be holding our 2015 catered fundraiser ride for the Arizona Trail there. For those of you marking your calendar for this fun event it will be March L
