Prescott Frontier Days®, Inc. Announces Parade Grand Marshal P rescott Frontier Days, Inc., and the 2014 Rodeo Parade Committee are proud to announce this year’s parade grand marshal who is a local icon, cowboy and renown western artist, Bill Nebeker, CA. The parade theme is Bringing Alive the Last 150 Years and takes place on Saturday, July 5 at 9 a.m. in downtown Prescott. Nebeker was born in Twin Falls, ID in 1942, and moved to Prescott in 1952. His first view of ranching came when his father, Ted worked for Long Meadow Ranch, which gave Bill his life-long respect and affinity with working cowboys. Inspired to sculpt in 1964 by the bronzes of George Phippen, the first President of the Cowboy Artists of America, Bill worked at the Phippen foundry for over 10 years. Nebeker’s 1st big career break came when he sculpted a tribute portrait bronze of John Wayne in 1974 and met with the “Duke” for the presentation of the piece at Wayne’s ranch in Arizona. Spirit Gallery, Prescott, AZ; In 2009 the AZ Historical Society named Bill one of the 100 “Arizona Culturekeepers” , for his contributions to the artistic, philanthropic and community enrichment to the State of Arizona. In 2012 he was honored with the, “Lifetime Contribution Award” by the Buckey’s Excellence in the Arts, in Prescott, AZ. It recognizes Nebeker’s enormous artistic talent, lifelong dedication to the arts in Arizona and the over $250,000.00 his donations of sculptures have raised for dozens of well deserving non-profit organizations throughout his career.
