HE USED COMPANY
TIME TO SEE A MOVIE
“My supervisor would be gone on
endless hours at work. He would tell
everybody that he be at the gym working
out. Yea right! Yes at my place of work
would allow you time head to the gym
and work out for acouple of hours. If
that’s so for the amount of time you are
gone, everybody at work would have
seen some progress and would be buff as
hell. I came in to work and he was fired.
He used company time to see movies. I
guess it serves you right.”
Lesson Learned
Abusing company time is something you should never have to
fess up. Hey if they are paying
you to go to the gym and workout. It beats having to pay for a
membership! Take advantage of
the gym offer and use your free
time for other things. It’s not worth
losing a job over.
HE HAD SEX IN
THE STOCK ROOM
“He is the type of person that you need
to watch out for. He will do anything to
get ahead in the company. It happen to
be working the same shift that he was
and when I went into the stock room,
I heard some noises coming from up
stairs. Making my way up there without
making any noise, I caught my sup and
him getting it on between the pillows.
Getting out the stock room and a few
mins after they came out. Shirts untucked, hair out of place. Little do they
know I got video of it.”
Lesson Learned
Sex on the job may be hot, but
should never be attempted. In
today’s society, if you get caught
having sex in a public place, not
only are you fired, but you get
placed on the sexual offender list.
So don’t screw up your perfect job
record with that pink slip.
HE CUSSED OUT THE CLIENTS
“I once worked with a small team that was relatively casual with each other internally, but we always put on a more fomal face for our clients. One
of our junior team members didn’t pick up on this right away. I remember
taking her to a new client’s office for the first time. She was shrugging off
some of their questions with responses like “hey we’re not totally sure,
but that’s why we’re here, right?” And top it all off, when some of the A/V
equipment malfunctioned, she broke out in a stream of curses ”
Lesson Learned
Even if your workplace is relaxed and casual, it’s a good idea
to err on the conservative side when other parties are involved. If the rules are unclear, keep an eye on how your sups
behave during meetings with outsiders.
HE SKYPED FROM A DISASTER AREA
“I was conducting a job interview over Skype and the interviewee’s home
was a total mess. He had laundry and papers strewn everywhere. Once I
saw how messy her space was, I questioned her competence and organization.”
Lesson Learned
Um, don’t be a slob. Virtual meetings may be commonplace,
but appearances matter regarless of where (or how) an appointment takes place. I would recommend to anyone meeting
over skype that they check their surroundings beforehand t
make sure they are giving the right impression.”
