around them to a smaller and smaller bubble? This indicates a possible lie, protection against discovery. Watch to see whether or not their gestures match their words. Do their expressions line up? Try to get this person to make eye contact. If they look off to the left over and over, it’s a keen indicator that they are uncomfortable with their words and likely telling a tale. Encourage them to look into your eyes and continue. If they look away, draw them back over and over until, eventually, the desired effect will slowly, but sure ease out the truth. Truth Serum I By: Leyla Luanne Buddha once said, “Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” In a world where hoaxes are as easy as photoshop and video editing, where it can be argued that our perception of reality, right, wrong and the truth of the world around us has been altered by our digital universe, the question becomes: how is one to get down to the truth of the matter? How easy it is to tell a lie from behind a keyboard, or from the relative safety of indignant anonymity. In a society where it is more acceptable to trade in one for the next, place it aside and keep both, or simply throw it all away like yesterday’s instant coffee; in relationships built upon necessity, boredom or the convenience of proximity, our teenage lives are spilling out into the adult world. A true friendship is tricky enough, but an honest one? Well,that’s near on impossible. So how does one get down to the nitty gritty? How do we not only recognize when the truth is being told, but convince the un-truther to give it up? There are a few tricks of the trade, but first things first, to get to the truth, you have to know when a lie is being told. This isn’t always the easiest part and it can’t always be taught.
