Η αρχιτεκτονική της Πάτμου καθορίστηκε
σε μεγάλο βαθμό από το Μοναστήρι-
Κάστρο του Αγίου Ιωάννη του Θεολόγου
και έχοντας ως πρότυπο το Βυζαντινό
“οσπίτιον”. Τα σπίτια είναι ορθογώνια με
διμερή εσωτερική διαίρεση στο δώμα και
αυλή στον εξωτερικό χώρο και εξελίχθηκαν
αργότερα σε διώροφες κατοικίες.
The architecture of Patmos was determined to a large extent by the Monastery-Castle of St. John
Theologos while having as a model the Byzantine “ospition” (house). The houses are rectangular with
a two-sided internal division on the flat roof and a courtyard outside and they later evolved into
two-storey dwellings.
