The scope of works included the replacement
of more than a thousand glass pane panels, at
extreme heights, to the skylight in the centre of
the Nelson Mandela Square. This necessitated
the implementation of the highest construction
safety standards, both in the co-ordination and
execution of the installation. Crash nets were fitted
below the installation with additional structural
steel installed on either side of the supporting

structure, to reinforce and ensure the integrity of
the existing structure.
