Projecting canopies at street level ensure all year weather protection for pedestrians and create solar shading to the extensively glazed Tsogo Sun shop fronts at street level. Sustainably protecting these areas from excess solar gain reduces the demands on artificial cooling. In contrast to the fully glazed façade approach, windows in the hotel are located within a generally solid façade to focus views while maintaining a passively sustainable building envelope.
