Visqueen has achieved Zero
Waste to Landfill certification from
Valpak at its Heanor and Rhymney
manufacturing sites. Architectural aluminium systems
by Kawneer are helping a unique
fellow UK manufacturer realise
ambitious business plans.
Zero Waste to Landfill certification
means a site sends no waste to
landfill; sends limited amounts of
waste to energy-from-waste (EfW);
and demonstrates a commitment
to continual improvement in waste
reduction and diversion. Kawneer’s AA®100 zone-drained
curtain walling and series 190
heavy-duty commercial entrance
doors have been used on the £20
million new global headquarters
and R&D, training and production
facility for Rayner Intraocular
Lenses in Worthing, West Sussex.
As part of its ISO 14001:2015
accreditation for environmental
management, the sites put controls
in place to reduce the amount of
waste they were generating through
effective staff training, raising the
profile of waste management on
site, and increasing the segregation
of waste.
