most upstairs walls were painted white, except the bathroom where the unusual, built-in bath is set off by pale green gregory’s Den. Photos: Lime stuFF internAl refurb FoR Listed cottage the ReFuRbishment oF a 16th centuRy Listed cottage in Hursley, Hampshire, involved integrating original beams into the interior design and renewing lime plaster in several rooms. A selection of Earthborn wall paints and timber finishes was used to create an understated style in keeping with the age of the property. Earthborn products were specified because of their breathability, important for lime plaster and timber. Claypaint was used on all walls and ceilings. The walls inside the built-in wardrobes had a first coat of Earthborn Isolating Primer to prevent smoke stains bleeding through from the chimney breast. Claypaint is a unique, clay based emulsion. It contains no oils or acrylics, so is virtually VOC free. It’s a high performance paint that covers exceptionally well and gives a distinctive, ultra matt finish. Painted timberwork was given a silk sheen with Earthborn’s flexible, hardwearing Eggshell 1 . Like Claypaint, it is totally oil and acrylic free. The kitchen’s wooden furniture gained a matt finish from Eco Chic Claypaint, topped with a clear protective coating of breathable Earthborn Furniture Wax. Both Claypaint and Earthborn Eggshell are Ecolabel approved and available in 72 shades. Bespoke colours can be developed through Earthborn stockists such as Lime Stuff which supplied this project. www.earthbornpaints.co.uk www.limestuff.co.uk 1.
