From 6 - 8 February 2018 Surface Design Show returns to London’s Business Design Centre, showcasing the newest and best surfaces that the design industry has to offer. Connecting innovative and exciting materials with an audience of architects, specifiers and designers, Surface Design Show is the only event in the UK that focuses solely on interior and exterior surfaces. For more than ten years Surface Design Show has been the place where industry people immerse themselves in the latest materi- als for the built environment, gain new insights and network with like-minded designers, architects and suppliers. From exquisite hand crafted surfaces to the latest technological advances in architectural lighting, over 170 exhibitors will high- light the very best in surface design. Surface Design Show 2018 will once again have a packed pro- gramme of events all designed to inspire and engage. Some of the events that included will be the Opening Night Debate. Organised in association with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and New London Architecture (NLA), it will highlight the issues fac- ing young Londoners as they seek to become home owners. The ever popular PechaKu- cha Evening – Hosted by Phil Coffey of Coffey Architects takes place on Wednesday 8 Feb at 6.30pm. An infor- mal and fun presentation of inspirational slides, the confirmed line-up includes Hannah Corlett, David Kohn and Jessica Reynolds. The Show will have a focus in 2018 on the Residential and Transport sec- tors. TV Presenter Naomi Cleaver will host -‘Every dream home: materiality and the democracy of ideas’ with speakers Giacomo Ribolla of Johnson Ribol- la, Carl Turner from Carl Turner Architects and Meriel Scott from Precious McBane. Colour Hive, creators of Mix Magazine, will present a trend cluster featur- ing surface materials and colours for spring/summer 2019; Disrupt, Drift, Hush and Worth. Debuting in 2017, Stone Gallery reflects the rapidly growing stone mar- ket in the UK and the important relationship between stone and surface design. Officially supported by Stone Federation GB, the first Stone Gal- lery attracted exhibitors from Europe and beyond all looking to link up with the international architects and designers that make London the worlds’ design hub. Now in its fifth year Light School presented by The Light Collective and supported by the Institution of Lighting Professionals, is the home of ar- chitectural lighting and allows architects and designers to touch, compare and learn about innovative lighting and technology products. Confirmed exhibitors from 2017 include Optelma, Evans Turner and Applelec whilst new exhibitors include F-Light and Pixalux.
