treX decking
Trex Company, the world’s
No 1 decking brand, offers a
simple and easy way to build
with green materials whilst not
compromising on look and feel.
Comprised of more than 95
percent recycled materials, Trex
composite decking provides the look and feel of real wood, without
the environmental impact. Offering an elegant finish requiring
minimal maintenance, Trex resists fading, scratching and mould
growth so, unlike wooden decking, it won’t rot, warp, crack, split
or splinter.
Featuring a protective shell for superior defense against severe
weather and heavy foot traffic, Trex deck boards will retain
their good looks even after years of wet British winters, and are
guaranteed to look as good as new by the time summer comes
around – year after year. Just an occasional sweep, and a clean with
soap and water is all that is needed to ensure the beauty of a Trex
deck for decades.

Replacement Balustrade
As specialists in the design,
supply,
installation
and
maintenance of Living Wall
systems,
Scotscape
are
delighted to be able to offer
CPDs on this topical subject.
A great many character or period
properties have stone balustrade
incorporated into their design.
These balustrades make a large
visual impact, but they also have
a practical purpose as barriers and
screens.
A common cause for the demise of a
balustrade is the presence of water.
Many original balustrades were made
from artificial stonework such as Roman
Cement, Concrete and Stucco. These
were often reinforced with iron or mild
steel bars which rust and expand when
exposed to water over a long period.
Other balustrades were made of natural
stone such as Portland Stone or Bath
Stone. While these types of balustrade do
not suffer from ‘blown’ reinforcing, they
do have a finite life span and the surface
of stonework will often delaminate or
form powdery patches.
Integration of living walls into
urban areas is essential to
create greener cities, improve
biodiversity, mitigate the urban
heat island effect and improve
poor air quality. The unique
Scotscape Living Wall system
offers the option for integrated
insulation to further enhance
the energy efficiency provided by living walls. Many other benefits
are explained in the CPD which offers architects and designers a
useful insight into the application of Living Walls.
Offered traditionally in your office, during a training day at
Scotscape HQ in Surrey or even via Webinar – our CPD is assessible
and informative.
