At Wiseton Road Webb Yates Engineers worked with WG+P to
remodel the existing ground floor extension and create an open
plan kitchen/living space, as well as adding an additional first
floor extension and new feature staircases within the existing
house.
At ground floor level the joists were designed to be exposed and
work compositely with the plywood floor above to meet both
the structural and fire requirements. A new skylight was also
incorporated above the kitchen space. Above the extension an
additional first floor annex with a timber clad façade was also
constructed.
Within the house a plywood staircase was designed with open
treads and an open bannister to allow light from the skylight
above into the space below.
