Lomax Builders Ltd breathes new life into
Victorian School
Thanks to Minus7’s award-winning hybrid technology, Lomax Builders Ltd blends stylish, subtle design
with efficient eco-friendly innovation in their refurbishment of a beautiful Victorian School House.
“With so many choices on the market, it’s hard to know what you’re getting” said David Lomax “but Minus7 have
been really good. When people ask me, would you use them again? I say Yes!”
Zero net carbon; zero net running
costs by design.

Using the best of solar thermal,
photovoltaic, heat pump and energy
storage technologies in one simple
aesthetically pleasing building-integrated
solution, Minus7 enables the ownerlandlord of the School House to charge a
reduced price for heat to tenants, creating
an additional revenue stream alongside
the rental income.
“The theory behind Minus7 is mindblowing; it just makes so much sense”
The system is comprised of three parts – a
roof, a Solar Energy Processor and thermal
stores, fulfilling the heating and hot water
needs of happy tenants who control the
system via traditional thermostats and
timers.
Working with conventional roof
construction methods, Minus7 bespoke
roof tile planks blend in seamlessly
without need for unsightly bolt on panels.
Weighing 27kilos per square metre – the
equivalent of Welsh slate - two areas of
St Mark’s Boys School House roof have
been replaced with Minus7 tileplanks in
slate grey. Quietly and discretely, they
absorb energy day and night, down to
temperatures of minus 7 degrees Celsius.
This energy is then stored in three thermal
stores, completely hidden under an area
of decking in the courtyard, allowing
the distinctive Victorian character of this
beautiful building to be retained. The solar
energy processor further ensures Minus7
meets its bespoke contractual annual
heat provision performance guarantee,
provided with every Minus7 project.
Appealingly simple
Lomax Builders Ltd has been so impressed
with Minus7’s performance and customer
care that they are now starting their
third large development utilising Minus7
technology. Minus7’s in-house design
and installation team provides creative
suggestions appropriate for each project’s
aesthetic and innovative needs. Remote
monitoring services provides complete
transparency of the energy generated,
used and stored, allowing the Minus7
after-care service team to proactively
ensure the system is working as efficiently
as possible, without disrupting its
occupants.
