AluK (GB) launched its AluK Design
Studio in the City of London on the 6th
and 7th April 2016. Over 100 architects,
contractors and designers attended the
event, experiencing the new product
demonstration space and getting a
first look at the latest innovations in
aluminium curtain walling, window and
door systems.
The AluK Design Studio opened to the
public on Monday 11th April.

In total, 2,880 bespoke kerbs for the
new 1.5km hybrid cycleway have
been manufactured for the project,
which will act as a divider between the
carriageway and cycleway.
The new concept in cycleway
kerbing was designed by the Cycling
Infrastructure Team at Cambridgeshire
County Council and Skanska after
identifying a standard kerb could pose
a safety hazard to cyclists joining the
cycleway at an acute angle.

A new slim-line version of the Smith’s
Space Saver was launched last year - the
Smith’s Space Saver SS80 - making it
the only plinth heater in Europe that fits
IKEA-style 80mm plinth heights. The
Space Saver SS80 fits much narrower
plinths found in kitchen designs popular
in Scandinavia and Germany. Like its
taller counterparts, installing the Space
Saver SS80 frees up wall space for extra
work surfaces and more storage or
desirable kitchen appliances. It provides
an alternative for home owners having
to make do with a panel radiator or
expensive under-floor heating.

Charcon, the commercial hard
landscaping product range from

its linear drainage system, Safeticurb,
with an enhanced design for improved
performance. The updated product is
now available as a single piece unit for
ease of installation and benefits from a
smoother bore for improved hydraulic
flow.
The long established system
substantially reduces the need for
expensive underground pipework.
Suitable for all hard landscaped surfaces,
and also for heavier duty options such
as industrial sites, Safeticurb features a
subtle cross-fall to direct surface water
towards the drainage entrances for hard
landscaped areas and roadways.
