Industry Employment Dynamics, 2014
The level of self-employment has been steady since
2009, but with growing employment, its share of the
local workforce has slipped gradually over time since
2005. The majority of the self-employed work in the
oil and gas industry. Increasingly more of those selfemployed can be found in construction, real estate,
and accommodation and food services, all of which
have grown at a rapid pace.
Bee County’s largest businesses are mostly in
retail trade. Other major businesses spread across
different sectors.
