Western Dressage is fast gathering
momentum across the country and
we were excited to hold our 2nd An-
nual Western Dressage Association
of Queensland State Championship
Show on the 2nd through until 4th
November at the Maryborough Show-
grounds. The preparation of the arena
was overseen by Jim Whitaker, WDAQ
President and Vivian Wearing WDAQ
Vice President along with so many
wonderful helpers.
This year we saw over 80 tests ridden
across the three days of competition.
Many competitors and supporters
travelling from as far away as North
Qld to attend and we thank everyone
that travelled distance to help make
our State Championship Show such
a success. The camaraderie and
support shown towards each other
really made our State Show very
memorable. We had a special gift to all
competitors on arrival, a smart polo
shirt sporting our sponsors on the
back as a commemorative
reminder of our State Show. Each of
our great sponsors will also receive
one of these polo shirts as a thank you
for your support of our State Show.
There are many great sponsors of our
show that we would like to especially
thank, Bay City Isuzu Ute, Thomas
Arena Products, Rudd’s Transport,
SnS Custom Floats, Vivian Wear-
ing Horsemanship, Rest Assured
Cleaning, Xtreme Genes, Steve

all our great sponsors that our show
could be such a huge success.
There are always many behind the
scenes making the show a
memorable one, so thank you to Lisa
Berg for doing the Show Secretary
job and keeping all the scores tallied.
Vivian Wearing and Jim Whitaker,
the hours you both spent behind the
camera as well as competing is com-
mendable and everyone always ap-
preciates the memories you catch on
film for them. Our show certainly saw
the coming together of some great
people with everyone pitching in and
helping ensure the show moved ahead
smoothly and boy it was a fun week-
end for us all.
Day One started with our
Introductory Level competition on
Friday under the experienced eye of
our Victorian Judge Margaret Augeri-
nos and penciler Jane Davies. Many
hours were spent officiating at our
competition and we thank both these
ladies for their time.
After a big day of competition on Sat-
urday Day Two we welcomed all com-
petitors.Saturday we welcomed all
competitors, supporters and specta-
tors to the “Xtreme Genes Welcoming

BBQ”, where we all gathered together
over a few drinks and a great steak
prepared by Errol Thomas. The offi-
cial side of the evening began with the
auction of the 1.8m ET Arena Drag
kindly donated by Errol Thomas from
Thomas Arena Drags. The auction of
this drag bought in $2,200 to WDAQ
and we thank Errol so much for his
support, this money will be put to
great use to further promote Western
Dressage across Australia. To top off
this great Welcoming event, Jayne
Leadbetter, a valued WDAQ member
and supporter of Western Dressage
organised a sponsor’s cake for us all
to celebrate all our wonderful spon-
sors, and wasn’t it a memorable cake
thanks Jayne.
Then it was time to celebrate year
