3 2013 FAAPI Conference So the 2013 FAAPI Conference has come and gone, and has certainly made a lasting contribution to the tradition of annual academic events organised by FAAPI affiliates. This Conference, organised by APIBA, was truly revolutionary in a number of ways: it incorporated presentations in both English and Spanish it offered some new formats, such as “Good Practice Stories” and “Meet and Greet” it held Pre Conference Events co-organised with Foreign Language Units of the Ministries of Education of the Province and City of Buenos Aires, which consisted of several in-service training sessions offered free of charge to 1600 teachers of English of state-run Primary and/or Secondary schools in APIBA’s jurisdiction it set up a Virtual Platform which brought the Conference to teachers who were unable to attend in person and offered delegates the chance to watch or re-watch some of the Keynote presentations and Panels It was also traditional in offering an extensive programme of activities, the chance to listen to prestigious academic figures, and a forum for colleagues from all over the country who are willing to share their research and experiences. With a turnout of about 1200 teachers, teacher trainers, trainees, publishers and school managers from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, Colombia and Mexico organisation was a real challenge. Yet APIBA managed to pull it off with efficiency, warmth and impeccable timing from beginning to end. The splendid venue chosen proved a matching backdrop for the three full days of professional growth.
