APrIR Newsletters: 2016 and back 2016 (1)

1 Asociación de Profesores de Inglés de Rosario 2016 – Newsletter 1 April 2016 Dear Member, 2016 marks APrIR’s 40th Anniversary, so the EC is very busy planning a celebration in style. All the activities to be carried out this year will be stepping stones toward the celebration of APrIR’s birthday. Another two sister organisations are also reaching landmark anniversaries; therefore, the three organisations will organise not only individual events but joint ventures. Asociación Rosarina de Cultura Inglesa (ARCI) is celebrating its 75th anniversary and the English Teacher Education Programme (Profesorado de Inglés) at IES ”Olga Cossettini” is celebrating its 80th Anniversary. At APrIR itself, April was once more a month of change. On April 9th, the Annual General Meeting took place at our new premises. The former Executive Committee, chaired by Prof. María del Carmen Fernández Beitía stepped down and a new EC was appointed. We would like to thank Prof. Fernández Beitía for all the hard work and relentless dedication she put in to foster the growth of our Association, always with a smile and kindest words of encouragement to the rest of the EC members. We know she needs a rest from the responsibilities of leadership which ensured many achievements for us all. We are also grateful to Marta Masía, who is taking a rest from the Treasury, though we are happy to say that both continue to be actively involved in the EC in different roles. Prof. María del Carmen Bonilla has picked up the baton to apply renewed energy to the job. She will be seconded by members of the previous EC, and the welcome addition of Prof. Andrea Monserrat, who is bringing new blood and fresh ideas. They will together strive to meet current goals and set new targets, but the success of our Association ultimately depends on the commitment of all members. 2016 – 2018 Executive Committee President: María del Carmen Bonilla Vice-President: Juana R. Nicenboim Secretary: Mariel Amez Under-Secretary: Andrea Monserrat
