Marsh & Bayou’s Fishing Forecast Leeville by Capt. Anthony Buquoi Spot On Fishing Adventures 225-806-8808 [email protected] Reds have been the target for this last month with some trout being caught with them. The reds numbers have been good and not very hard to find. The trout have been moving around and starting their spring time migration. So they're in this spot today and gone tomorrow. We are already seeing trout with egg's in them this early which is a good sign. There have been large catches of trout coming from the coastal islands in last few weeks also. So what does all this mean? This springs transition of trout and reds is in full swing. With the mild winter we have had and the water warming up things are starting early as we can see. We believe it is going to be a great year. So get out there and start fishing in some of those spring and summer spots for reds and specks. As long as the weather lets us get there the fish are showing up there. Don't forget to go check out Captain Anthony Buquoi on his face book page, Spot On Fishing Adventures and his website at www.spotonfishingadventures.com to see how we are doing on the water. If you would like to fish with Captain Anthony Buquoi just call him at 225-806-8808 or email him at [email protected]. See you on the water. Delacroix by Capt. Rykert O. Toledano, Jr. While Away Fishing Charters. (985) 778-1150 Every April we celebrate the beautiful weather in the real beginning of the spring and summer fishing schedule. Often that celebration is tempered as we look to the top of trees and reminded that the wind blows often and hard in Louisiana during this month. Your fishing pattern should always take into consideration these winds and the effect it has on the waters in your area. During this time tide ranges will increase and as the new moon rise and this will allow the shallow areas to increase in salinity and attract fish to the spawning areas. Shrimp will be on the move and as we move deeper into the month you will see birds diving on the water. Fish the major outflows during a falling tide. Generally at this time of year the fish are beginning to move closer to the outside and therefore the outlying perimeter bays such as Four Horse, Grand Pointe, Point Fienne, Lake Campo, Oak River Bay and Bay Lafourche should begin to produce consistently. This is a great time of year to fish artificial around some of our outer islands such as Bell Island, Iron Banks and Stone Island. Traditionally you will find redfish congregating in the western and northern shores of Grand Lake as well along Oak River Bay and Bay Shallow. As always be thankful for the time that you can spend on the water with friends and family. Sometimes these thoughts come home very clearly such as this past weekend when the friends of Hokie Gajan, the former great LSU and Saints football player who is battling a rare form of cancer at this time assembled for a much needed fundraiser. Needless to say this fishing season will not be a good one for Hokie but our prayers are with him that he will be back on the water by the fall and spring of next year. Please think about Hokie and how lucky we all are. As always, feel free to call me if I can be of any assistance to you at (985) 778-1150. Good fishing and good luck!
