enough option for air circulation. What makes
palazzos so attractive to wear is that they are
available in a host of fabrics and colours. There
are cotton ones to go with the ubiquitous kurtas
for a nice ensemble. They are also made in Lycra,
georgette, silk, cotton, silk dupion, Tussar, linen,
etc. It is, however, the ethnic palazzos which are
being lapped up, be it ikat, block prints, kalamkari
printed ones or the ever hot ajrakh printed ones.
The flared palazzo pants are what took
the country by storm. The flared one is very
comfortable teamed with a t-shirt, a tank top or
a strap top. Reminiscent of the sharara with a
high waist, it comes in various designs. There
are those with zippers on the side; there are
several with doris or elegant strings. There are
pleated palazzos and wrap-around ones. The
website www.stylecraze.com has an entire
article devoted to the various types of palazzos

LEGGY LASSES
Leggings are another lowers/bottom wear which
simply threw out the grand ole churidar. It has
replaced the churidar completely and is made
of Lycra, cotton, cotton spandex, cotton Lycra,
linen spandex, etc. The range includes ankle-
length, full-length, three-quarter length, etc., and
is available in plain colours. They can be teamed
with a whole range of tops. The leggings alternate
as tights, so they go perfectly with Western wear
when teamed with shirts or long overcoat tunics.
They work perfectly with long, flowy kurtas and
can be also used for workouts and alternate as
leisure wear as well.
The range of pants that seem to have hit the
market is unbelievable, from straight pants,
cropped pants, ankle-length pants to cigarette
pants and slim fit pants. The material is again
an exciting blend of cotton, denim, linen, silk
and others. Each of the pants is different, with
add-ons including zippers and pockets. The slim
fit pants are clinging knee downwards. Cigarette
pants have an opening or a slit near the ankles,
giving them some breathing space. Cropped
pants stop somewhere above the ankle.
