Saathi (saathipads.com) takes a cradle-to-cradle approach to women’s menstrual health. They have upcycled a fully bio-degradable sanitary pad from waste banana tree fiber, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Sound Scouts (soundscouts.com.au) uses game-based technology to deliver an accessible, clinically validated, low cost hearing screening solution to children (and the elderly population) to eliminate undetected hearing loss and elevate life outcomes. Created in collaboration with the National Acoustic Laboratories and is supported by NSW health, it also helps you find a hearing specialist based on your test results.

Sound Scouts was declared the winner on Sunday night, and founder Carolyn Mee was thrilled that 'Sound Scouts has achieved international recognition for its advanced technology but also for the positive social impact it can have.’ She went on to say that Sound Scouts, ‘want to make sure that every child has their hearing tested around the time that they start school.

Many people think that because their child’s hearing was tested when they were a baby that their child can’t have a hearing problem. But hearing loss can occur at any time.

We know that more children are identified as having hearing loss in the first few years of school than are identified at birth. Too often kids can go through years of schooling before someone thinks to test their hearing. By that time, they’re often labelled as “disruptive” or “inattentive”.'

As well as Sound Scouts, winners were announced in the Enterprise and Smart Data catego-ry, Deep 6 AI, an artificial intelligence-enabled technology platform for matching patients to clinical trials in minutes (deep6.ai) and Lampix, which transforms any surface into a ‘smart’ surface in the Augmented and Virtual Reality competitions (lampix.co).
