As a growing city , Lakeville has issued the most new single-family home permits in the Twin Cities in 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and in 2016 through September according to the Builders Association of the Twin Cities . Additionally , Lakeville has one of the lowest city tax rates in Dakota County .
The City has issued permits for 279 single family homes through September with a total valuation of $ 86,693,000 . This compares to 262 single family home permits through September of 2015 with a total valuation of $ 82,594,000 . The City also issued permits for 59 townhome units through September 2016 with a total valuation of $ 12,936,000 . This compares to 30 townhome permits issued through September of 2015 with a total valuation of $ 6,571,000 .
