IMA COMMITTEES PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE The goal of the Public Information Committee is to support the Iron Mining Industry in media, education, career and workforce development to assure the public’s perception of industry is favorable and supportive. COMMITTEE CHAIR: Bob Poulter, GPM Inc. ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE SAFETY & HEALTH COMMITTEE MISSION STATEMENT: Champion responsible mining in an environmentally sustainable manner to provide resources that meet society’s needs. MISSION STATEMENT: Promote the continuous improvement of safety in our mines and plants for all employees, contractors, visitors, guests and other stakeholders by: • Sharing best safety practices • Opening and improving communication between industry, labor and government • Assuring consistent interpretation of standards and regulations • Acquiring/advancing safety-based knowledge and new skill sets • Sharing best management practices • Promoting cooperation/improving communication between industry, agencies and other stakeholders • Working towards consistent interpretation of policies and regulations • Acquiring/advancing/applying environmental knowledge COMMITTEE CHAIR: Chrissy Bartovich, U.S. Steel Minnesota Ore Operations MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE The membership committee continues to work on recruiting new members to the IMA. Our efforts include the evaluation of members’ classifications. We as a committee continue promoting the IMA and the benefits of being involved in the IMA as members. COMMITTEE CHAIR: Michael Jenkins, TASSCO COMMITTEE CHAIR: Bryan Baird, United Taconite WORKFORCE & EDUCATION COMMITTEE The IMA Workforce Committee’s responsibility is to assure the Producer and Supplier Members understand workforce needs. The committee will work with educators and agencies to assure a well- trained and skilled work force is available to meet present and future work force needs.
