New Year, New Attitude!

As a resolution this year, I suggest that we take a deliberate
look at our off season activities and make them count.
We blinked and 2018 was in the books. By
all accounts, it was a good year for the asphalt
business. Even without a major highway bill,
everyone is busy. This doesn’t mean that there
weren’t any challenges. While oil prices stayed
very stationary until recently, other forces
worked against us; from finding and keeping
qualified employees to increased competition
to weather issues. All in all, it's been no differ-
ent than most years but in some ways, different
than any other year. We all had different chal-
lenges but it’s funny how when we look back
we recall something that never happened be-
fore. Life in the big city, right?
This month, let’s take a look at some of the
things we all should be doing during some of
the winter months to ensure that there are as

few surprises in 2019 as possible. Some of these
things are activities and practices that we do
every year and take for granted and maybe we
shouldn’t. As a resolution this year, I suggest

Equipment Maintenance. Okay, I know. Every
other article and email for the past two months
talk about winterizing your equipment and get-
ting ready for the spring. But I want to take it
a step further. Let’s take a look back at the past
year as it pertains to each of your machines. Is
there something about this machine that you
wish was a little different, or maybe just a little
bit easier to use? Now is the time to get with
