Ergonomics: They replaced cumbersome, often binding con-
trols with easy to use joystick operations; a low profile tank
with a high operator seat was designed for improved visi-
bility; and they added an instantaneous open/close material
knife valve that is trigger finger operated.
Performance:
The final design included a 42 HP, turbo-
charged diesel engine, heavy duty hydrostatic closed loop
system to provide speed and torque, and electrohydraulic
controls. Additionally, the designers added a pressure-com-
pensated piston pump so power for accessory functions is
always available.
In 2003, after testing and hard running the new design for
a full season with CPM’s own crews, the PavementSaver was
introduced to the sealcoat world at National Pavement Expo
in Las Vegas. In 2007 the first spray PavementSaver was dis-
