Operation Safe
Operation SAFE (Strategy Against Fatality Events) focuses on aggressive driving behaviors that can lead to road rage
incidents and serious injury crashes. Each week, traffic and patrol commanders receive detailed analysis that assist them in
planning resource deployments to combat aggressive driving. Traffic officers conduct traffic monitoring and enforcement in
areas where high crash frequency and violations are observed.

In 2018, a total of 330 calls were placed to
our Road Rage Hotline. Citizens have the ability
to contact this number for incidents that are
not in-progress. Traffic personnel review the
phone calls and if warranted, mail a letter to the
registered owner’s address with information regarding
an allegation of road rage. The Traffic Unit mailed out 218 letters.
