Racial Reconciliation Summit – Police Chief Will Johnson attended this forum that seeks to address violence in the
community through peace and reconciliation with members of the community. Mayor Jeff Williams was on hand to
advance the vision of his Kindness Initiative.
Project Connect – The
department received grant
funding to conduct citizen
outreach with the local Muslim
community. Officers attend
meetings at local mosques
where they present public
safety information to educate
attendees on the role of First
Responders. Topics have
included traffic stops, fire safety,
online safety and how to connect
with beat officers.
The World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort
Worth, working alongside Global Ties
U.S. and the U.S. Department of State,
recommended the Arlington Police
Department to host a group of senior law
enforcement officials from Mexico for a
project called the U.S.-Mexico Police
Professionalization Exchange Program
(PPEP). The officials traveled from around
Mexico to discuss Arlington Police
Department’s best practices in community
policing, procedural justice, mentoring
programs, and our internal communications.
