Accreditation
• The Accreditation Unit is responsible for reports, analyses,
and other departmental tasks.
• In 2017, the department received a re-certification
for the CALEA Tri-Arc Award, for having concurrent
accreditations for law enforcement, public safety
communications and public safety training since 2009.
• The department was invited by CALEA to participate in
website enhancement through digital photography of
department employees working in various capacities.
The Accreditation
Unit is responsible for

analyses, training,
audits, inspections
and inventories
that are required to
be completed in a

responsible for ensuring all
CALEA standards are completed
with annual documentation to
demonstrate compliance.
In 2017, both the law
enforcement and training remote
assessments were completed
with CALEA and there were no
issues reported. In addition, the
department was one of only
two Texas agencies invited to
participate in a CALEA website
refresh through allowing digital
photographs of employees
working in various capacities
throughout the department.
The unit also participated in
the President’s Task Force on 21 st
Century Policing with an emphasis
on highlighting policy and
procedure best practices. Several
updates to standard operating
procedures and departmental
policies were completed last year.
