Administration

• Throughout the year , administrative staff evaluate internal business processes to ensure efficiency , excellent customer service and adherence to organizational goals and objectives .
• Police Administration ensures support of policing “ Best Practices ” and Community Policing initiatives through self-imposed internal review of organizational policies , practices and training .
• The department transitioned from Summary UCR to NIBRS crime reporting .
Police Administration encompasses a variety of work areas that support the Office of the Police Chief and other segments of the organization . Personnel work together to report accurate and timely information related to operations and staffing in order to effectively forecast the needs of the department and appropriately respond to internal and external stakeholders .
Management Services completed the transition from Summary Uniform Crime Report ( UCR ) to National Incident Based Reporting ( NIBRS ). The unit also managed the successful implementation and transition with a new records management system .
The department continues to set the standard for policing by focusing on improvements and progress made within law enforcement . This is demonstrated by adhering to model policies and best practices on issues facing the profession .
In 2017 , the Policy Analyst evaluated training and policies related to Excited Delirium , a syndrome that can cause the sudden unexplained death of individuals experiencing a druginduced medical crisis . The analysis resulted in adoption of a model policy to address these issues to ensure officers and citizens remain safe during these types of encounters .
