In fiscal year 2017,
Records Services completed a
reorganization of the unit which
included filling vacant positions to
become fully staffed and realigning
daily workload with resources.
Also, a renovation of the work
areas provided an updated, more
professional look with lower
cubicle walls for better teamwork
and improved morale. Another
milestone achieved in 2017 was
the transition from Uniform Crime
Reporting in summary format to
incident based
reporting.
Certification
was received
from the Texas
Department of
Public Safety for
Arlington Police
Department to
submit crime stats
in the National
Incident Based
System (NIBRS).
All agencies
Arlington, Texas Police Department
will be required by the FBI to
migrate to NIBRS by the year 2021.
Throughout the year, Records
Services handled over 18,000
burglar alarm permit applications
or renewals and processed the
paperwork for 12,071 arrests.
More than 5,200 open records
requests were worked and almost
1,800 fingerprint services were
provided to citizens. Records
Services is staffed with 28 full-time
and five part-time records services
assistants, six coordinators and
one supervisor, and is part of the
Management Services Bureau.
