The department launched
Operation Freeway Safety
following a homicide that
occurred during a road rage
incident this past summer. Officers
patrolled highways and worked
in covert and highly visible
units to identify and apprehend
aggressive drivers. The operation
netted several arrests and
citations for behaviors typically
associated with aggressive driving
including excessive speeding,
racing, throwing objects from
vehicles and brandishing firearms.
Back to School Bash – Over
20 vendors donated school
supplies to children in Treepoint
Apartments. This is an annual
partnership with Walmart and
Citizens Police Academy Alumni.
Four Arlington Police Department Officers were honored by Governor
Greg Abbott as they received the prestigious Star of Texas Award on
Monday, September 11, 2017 in Austin. The Star of Texas Award honors
Peace Officers, Firefighters and Emergency Medical First Responders
who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty. Lieutenant Michael
Moses, Corporal Elise Bowden and Officers Edward Johnston and
Jason Heisel received the award in a ceremony at the Texas House of
Representatives Chamber for injuries sustained while in the line of duty.
The Economic
Crimes Unit
worked a major
case involving a
roofing company
that defrauded
27 victims out
of $151,000.
Detectives worked
with the Tarrant
County Criminal
District Attorney’s
Office White Collar Crime Unit to bring justice to victims and reduce
the likelihood that this particular business would prey on Arlington
residents again.
