PPatrol - North District

• The North District expanded youth initiatives by adding a job fair and skills training to “ The Rec ” after-school program .
• Coach 5-0 participation with officers expanded to 18 officers mentoring student athletes .
• The district worked two significant cases resulting in federal charges and making a huge impact in the North Texas region .
The patrol division is the department ’ s largest division of personnel . The City of Arlington is divided into four geographic districts . Officers are assigned to beats to prevent crime , proactively address traffic concerns , and solve community problems . In the North District , an estimated 6.8 million visitors are drawn to the Entertainment District annually . These crowd fluctuations on event days can swell the city ’ s population and it ’ s up to the North District to provide excellent services to the businesses and residents in and around the Entertainment District .
The Rec , as it ’ s called , continued with great results last year . Lamar High School students are provided an opportunity to hang out at North Davis Church of Christ twice a week after school to hone their athletic abilities , catch up on homework , or just enjoy time with mentors and friends while eating a healthy snack . The partnership between community , educators , and the church reinforced a positive lifestyle for kids . Lt . Thedrick Andres put on several job skills workshops for teens which resulted in 60 job offers for adolescents to obtain employment .
Coach 5-0 is a huge endeavor in the North District , cataloging the most officer participation in the city . Officers traveled with the Lamar High School Vikings football team to the home and away games . Mentors reported a banner year with positive relationship building between officers and teens . North Criminal Investigations Division was assigned a case where a gun store was burglarized and 39 guns were stolen . Through a couple of search warrants and assistance from
Garland Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , and Firearms , 24 guns were recovered and seven arrests were made . In another major crime ring involving 15 burglaries of pharmacies throughout Arlington , detectives were able to secure federal sentences on 7 people associated with the offenses based upon intelligence sharing with multiple agencies .
