he Operations Support Division
includes:
• Traffic Unit
• Special Operations Unit
• Homeland Security/Special
Events Unit
The Traffic Unit is
commanded by Lt. Tom Kiker and
is the largest section comprised
of Motors, Crash Investigators,
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement
Inspectors, Traffic Enforcement
Officers, and DWI Enforcement
Officers. The DWI Unit executed
424 blood search warrants on
suspected intoxicated drivers.
Motors provide traffic safety in
school zones and neighborhood
streets. The department’s two
motor teams also assist with
escort details at special events
in the Entertainment District.
Crash investigators respond to a
life-threatening injury and fatality
crashes. Investigators provide
expertise in the area of crash
reconstruction.
Commercial vehicle inspectors
conducted 2,293 inspections of
commercial vehicles to ensure
the vehicles were within federal
safety standards. Out of those
