The department’s Crime Scene
Unit earned the International
Certification in Forensic Inspection after successfully completing all
the requirements from the ANSI-ASQ
National Accreditation Board.
Victim Services Coordinator Derrelynn
Perryman was appointed by Texas Governor
Greg Abbott to serve on the Texas Board
of Criminal Justice. The board provides
confinement, supervision, rehabilitation, and
reintegration of the state’s convicted felons.
Detective Josh Gowins
received the Productivity
Award for the Greatest
Dollar Recovery and Most
Cases Cleared at the
Texas Crime Stoppers
Conference in Brownsville,
Texas.
Police Explorer Post #602 took home
several awards in 2015. Explorers
took home 1st place overall at Lake
Jackson, Texas. During the Texas Law
Enforcement Advisors Association,
the group received 1st place in critical
incident response in three categories
and finished in 2nd place in Gang
Activity scenario.
The department assisted the
Municipal Court in winning
the Traffic Safety Award
from the Texas Municipal
Courts Education Center. This
is the fourth consecutive year
the City was recognized. This
year’s award recognized the
department’s DWI prevention
efforts.
