Tips on Beginning Your Employment Relationship

wo of the most important tasks you
carry out as an employer are hiring the
right people for your organization and
exiting individuals from your organization. Actions taken by an employer in these situations can have a large impact, either negative or
positive, depending on the steps taken.
Preparation and consistency among hiring
managers are crucial to a successful hiring effort.
In the absence of uniform recruiting practices that
hiring managers are aware of and trained on, managers tend to fill in hiring process gaps by developing their own individual practices. This may lead
to inconsistent and poor hiring decisions as well
as to discrimination complaints due to applicants
feeling that they have been asked inappropriate
questions or treated differently than others. Moreover, even a solid candidate selection process will
be of limited value if the onboarding process is not
of equal caliber.
