2017 - 2018 EDUCATION MILESTONES Maintenance Apprenticeship Program an Award-Winning Success! 552 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED 115 86* STUDENTS ENROLLED STUDENTS COMPLETED 56* STUDENTS PLACED *Doesn’t include results from session 5 ending on June 28, 2018. T he Maintenance Apprenticeship Program (MAP) launched on July 28, 2017 with 20 students enrolled in the program. Since then, there have been five sessions with a total of 115 students. MAP was created to fill the industry need for on-site maintenance professionals. Students went through the six-week program that teaches them the soft and technical skills to work in the industry. Of the 115 students that went through MAP, 86* students have completed the program and 56* are currently working in the industry as maintenance professionals. MAP is the first program of its kind in Colorado and nationally. AAMD has helped numerous associations across the country 26 | TRENDS JUNE 2018 develop a similar program to serve their geographic area. In May, the National Apartment Association announced the winners of their national awards program. AAMD is the proud recipient of the National Apartment Association Affiliate Education Excellence award for MAP. These awards are competitive and difficult to win with over 185 affiliates to choose from across the nation. The Maintenance Apprenticeship Program would not be possible without AAMD’s valued partners. Emily Griffith Technical College developed the approved curriculum and provided the instructors for the program. AAMD also partnered with Main Spring Resourcing, Hire Session 1 Session 2 Session 3 Session 4 Connections and BG Multifamily, which are the three staffing companies that facilitated and payrolled the students throughout the apprenticeship part of the program. Finally, this program would not be possible without the properties and staff that hosted and trained the apprentice students. The next MAP session is scheduled to begin in September 2018.
