OCTOBER 7 CHILI COOKOFF AAMD Launches Maintenance Apprenticeship Program I t is clear there is a great need for mainte- nance professionals in the fast-growing Denver Metro area. In partnership with Emily Griffith Technical College and the Colo- rado Department of Labor and Employment, AAMD is happy to announce the launch of the new Maintenance Apprenticeship Program (MAP)! MAP is a six-week program that is designed to train future maintenance profes- sionals (with little or no experience) with the skills needed for a career in the multifamily industry. This program consists of 48 hours of in-class learning and a minimum of 96 hours at www.aamdhq.org a paid on-site apprenticeship. Both parts work simultaneously over a six-week period to prepare the student for a career in maintenance. The goal of this program is to provide individu- als with a job opportunity and career path upon completion. The first program is scheduled to begin July 28, 2017. We are looking to partner with our members to host the apprenticeship portion of the program at a local apartment community. Students will serve their 96-hour commitment at your community while working under a trained maintenance professional. At the conclusion of the program, Industry Partners are encouraged to hire their appren- tice if the candidate is a good fit. If you are an Owner or Property Management com- pany interested in participating, please contact Lisa Godbehere for more information. If you know of anyone that would be a good candidate for the program, please have them apply at www.ProApartments.com/MAP. JULY 2017 • TRENDS | 9
