On November 21, AAMD lost a very special friend
and amazing man in Rick Kanas. He had been
battling stage 4 cancer for the past several months,
and passed away with his family at his side, and so
many of us with him in spirit.
Rick leaves behind an important and memorable
legacy through his commitment to our organization
over the course of his career, including his time as a
Director on the AAMD Board and chairman of so
many AAMD committees. Rick will be most
remembered as an Ambassador of fun and
celebration. His friendly smile, warm spirit and
outgoing personality were so genuine - and made
him so approachable and lovable.
Rick was loved by his family- wife Deb, children
Jessica and Andrew and his grandchildren. He
was also loved by his family at RediCarpet and by
so many friends through the Apartment
Association. We will always remember Rick for
being a man with great character, his ability to
make people feel important, and his power to make
us laugh and smile.
