smoking print advertising With so many digital advertising options available today, print advertising is very much a thing of the past when it comes to marketing apartments. Online advertising offers highly targeted, immediate options that follow you around your search engines and Social Media sites. Print advertising simply does not keep up with the pace of today’s consumer and how decisions are made. With everything now pretty much 100% smoke-free, it’s hard to believe residents could at one time smoke in their apartments – much less the leasing office. Yet as late as the 80s, you could find ashtrays on leasing desks, cigarette vending machines, and community-branded matches in big bowls and – get this – people actually smoking cigarettes. Indoors. In front of everybody. Like it was okay. Because it was okay back the day. It wasn’t until the 90s that smoking was snuffed in all common areas. movies & popcorn Ahhhh…the quintessential 90s community amenity, the Movie Theater! These theaters were so prevalent it almost seemed that it was a requirement for any new A Property, but we loved it. To complete the movie viewing experience, many communities invested in portable movie theater popcorn machines. Not only was popcorn an added bonus as a snack for our residents, but the smell of fresh popcorn enhanced the experience of providing such a luxury amenity and made our mouths water. For those communities that were not lucky enough to have been built with such an extravagant amenity, or those communities that were built before this trend, they were able to jump onto the movie- mania bandwagon by first offering VHS rentals, and later DVDs. What fun and wonderful programs for enjoying the movies before Netflix and other streaming services came to be our favorite binge- watching platforms. sports courts & beach
