them for a Tribute
P
eople are motivated differently. A
great misconception is that people
are motivated primarily by money.
Many studies, and perhaps your
own personal experience, though, have
shown the true motivator is making a
difference - - being relevant. And a not so
distant second is being recognized, thanked
and appreciated.
So yes, it’s obvious that motivating our
team members is very important. Despite
this, we don’t always think about it and/
or time the time to do it. AAMD’s 50th
anniversary Tributes, however, is providing
an opportunity to motivate your teams in a
most unique and remarkable manner. If you
haven't yet heard of it, Tributes is AAMD’s
black tie gala which is held only every 3

years and the entire event is dedicated to
recognizing excellence in our industry.
There’s not a better motivator than to
publicly recognize a person for the excellence
they’ve demonstrated.
In last month's issue of Trends, we
printed the official Call for Entries, or
request for nominations. Awards will
be presented set for every possible area:
Leasing professionals, Maintenance Techs,
Regional Managers, porters, suppliers,
communities and websites just to name a
few. The list goes on and on…
For those of you who have never
attended a past Tributes, you’ve missed an
event that is widely considered to be the
Academy Awards of our industry. It is an
incredible night of excitement, fun, good
food and a glamorous atmosphere. The well-
deserved awards honoring the best in the
industry are the highlight of the evening.
The evening itself is extraordinary and
unforgettable and simply being nominated
for one of the Tributes awards is a significant
nod towards a person’s consistent and
exceptional hard work.
Everyone on your team is eligible to
be nominated for a Tribute and I am sure
that you have some team members or
communities that you would like to recognize,
ones who could use a little motivation!
