Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Actively participate in an immersive training which will cover wilderness travel and camping technical skills, group management, working with diverse groups, and BOLD & GOLD curriculum

• Help facilitate 1 or 2 wilderness expeditions under the guidance of 2 BOLD & GOLD Instructors

• Create values-forming experiences for adolescents

• Create an inclusive environment for youth in the outdoors

• Help with both pre-course preparation and logistical support and post-course work

• Work with fellow interns on one end-of-season project, under the supervision of the Program Director

Critical Success Factors:

• Commitment to working with diverse groups, openness to learning about one’s own biases, and creating an inclusive environment for all participants and staff members

• Excellent communication skills

• A willingness to learn new skills and ideas

• A commitment to making the transference of a wilderness experience relevant to the everyday lives of youth participants

• Knowing how to have fun!

BOLD & GOLD AORE Interns will be assigned to spend the summer working at one of the following wilderness Camps:

• YMCA Camp Widjiwagan (Ely, MN)

• YMCA Camp Menogyn (Grand Marais, MN)

- OR -

• Seattle BOLD & GOLD Basecamp

Intern preference in MN will be taken into account, but assignment will be made based upon

Dates of Employment:

• June 1st to August 31st, 2019 (Approximate)

Compensation:

• Daily rate

• Room and Board in MN
